At Promise Academic Mentoring

As educators and women of color, the founders of At Promise witnessed the need for after school activities for K-12 students. Filling in the gap, founders Dr. Deanna Sanders, Betty Gray and Sophia Williams organized enrichment activities focused on academic perseverance. After facilitating programming for 10-years, the founders envisioned growth and expansion and collaborated with Asha to fine tune At Promise’s mission, vision and value representing the founders’ longstanding support of youth, primarily youth of color. With the organization’s focus clearly defined, Deanna was able to pursue nonprofit status, increase programming capacity and broaden approaches for soliciting financial support.
